Registered Practical Nurse

Purpose:

As a member of an interdisciplinary health care team, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is responsible for the delivery of client-centred nursing services in collaboration with registered nursing staff.

Education and Training:

• A graduate from an approved School of Nursing (Registered Practical Nursing Program) with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support BCLS (if not current must be obtained within 3 months).
• Must have relevant experience working within full scope of practice, including medication administration, within the last two (2) years.
• Completion of RPN standardization (all modules) required.
• Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate required.

Experience:

• Minimum one (1) year full-time equivalent experience (within the last 5 years) in dialysis is required.

Knowledge/Skills Ability:

• Physical ability to move dialysis machines, dialysis chairs/beds.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office software, Meditech Client Service OE, and GRASP software.

Personal Suitability:

• Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
