KEY FUNCTION:
Oversee and coordinate the operations of the Complex Malignant Hematology (CMH) Program within the Outpatient Clinics by implementing continuous process improvement strategies, integrating clinic-level quality improvement plans with the broader strategic priorities of HSN, and promoting an organizational culture that values professional development, staff well-being, and excellence in practice.
REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Outpatient Clinics.
DUTIES:
1. Work with the management team to direct and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of program systems and processes, and implement and monitor standards for the Outpatient CMH Clinics.
2. Ensure the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures for the Outpatient CMH Clinics.
3. Lead the work related to Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) accreditation, provide education and operational support to staff and physicians, and advance key milestones across HSN programs.
4. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and critical documents required to meet FACT accreditation requirements.
5. Ensure document control processes are followed and maintained within Cellular Therapy Program.
6. Support internal audit planning, scheduling, and follow-up, ensuring action items from audits and quality meetings are completed.
7. Achieve and maintain FACT accreditation as per specified deadlines.
8. Participate in Ontario Health, Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) related activities, working groups and provincial meetings as required.
9. Prepare, monitor, and administer departmental budgets, including budget variance analysis and establishing resources required within allocated funding.
10. Evaluate patient care and satisfaction on an ongoing basis and formulate solutions for improvement.
11. Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
12. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
13. Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
14. Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
15. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
2. Current Certificate of Registration as an RN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
3. Current certification in DeSouza Complex Malignant Hematology course is required.
4. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as an RN, preferably in an Oncology department.
2. Two (2) years working in a leadership role in Complex Malignant Hematology is preferred.
3. Training or recent experience with project management is preferred.

4. Demonstrated ability to analyze research and implement evidence-based practice into policy and procedure development and clinical practice.
5. Demonstrated ability to coach, advise and teach others using the principles of adult learning.
6. Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
7. Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
8. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of management, hospital committee structure, conflict management and resolution, system needs analysis and organizational assessment.
9. Ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with health care providers and employees.
10. Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
11. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
12. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
