KEY FUNCTION:
Collect, analyze and monitor key permance metrics and Hub operations data for the clinical pathway and share with the Regional Continuous Improvement Lead Organization. Maintain a services directory for the clinical pathway and develop a process to ensure its accuracy.
REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Medical Imaging (Special Projects).
DUTIES:
1. Coordinate and participate in the successful selection, analysis, design, planning, risk assessment, implementation, training, maintenance, support, and upgrade of the Central Intake systems by using best practice project initiatives.
2. Monitor issues that may adversely affect patient care and identify and implement opportunities for increased efficiencies in Medical Imaging.
3. Participate in quality and data management of patient data in all related imaging applications.
4. Develop strategies and follow government body and organizational policies to ensure data is recognized as private, confidential, and protected.
5. Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
6. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
7. Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
8. Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
9. Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) as a Medical Radiation Technologist (Radiography (R), Nuclear Medicine (NM), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)), Medical Sonographer (DMS) or Radiation Therapy (T) is required.
2. Completion of post-graduate informatics training courses are preferred.
3. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a Clinical Support department within a health care environment.
2. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with a Hospital Information System (HIS).
3. Experience with e-referral systems is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1. Demonstrated superior knowledge of Medical Imaging workflows.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of Meditech Expanse modules.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standards, Health Level Seven International (HL7), and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
4. Demonstrated knowledge in areas of professional practice, theoretical frameworks of care delivery, and documentation and trends in health care.
5. Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills.
6. Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
7. Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
8. Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
9. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
10. Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
11. Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
12. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
