Education and Training: 

  • Graduate from a recognized Medical Secretary diploma program or related program
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate required

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) months recent relevant experience.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

  • Demonstrated ability to type 50 w.p.m.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Terminology
  • Ability to draft correspondence, take minutes and proof-read for accuracy
  • Proficiency in data entry and working knowledge of computerized patient information systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multi-faceted team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and diversified workload
  • Proven ability to collaborate with others
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in disseminating sensitive information.
  • Discretion and maturity in handling confidential matters is essential

 

Personal Suitability:

  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated positive work and good attendance record with a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Criminal record check satisfactory to the hospital is required.

 

French Language Service (FLS) Designation:

Bilingualism requirements will be posted in accordance with the FLS Designation Plan.  If a position is designated bilingual and no bilingual candidates (both internal and external) meet the qualifications, unilingual candidates may be considered.
