Operating Room Attendant

Education and Training:

• Successful completion of grade twelve or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and Career Entrance (ACE).
• Proven Certification in WHMIS.
• Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) months recent relevant experience required
• Experience handling and transporting medical equipment and supplies, laboratory samples and medical gases

Knowledge/Skills

Ability:

• Ability to transport patients using stretchers, wheelchairs and other transporting equipment
• Must have working knowledge of aseptic techniques in an Operating Room environment
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively with patients and other health care professionals
• Proven ability to understand, interpret and apply written and oral instructions
• Proven ability to safely lift, push and pull up to 49 lbs

Personal Suitability:

• Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record
