POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement and Event Fundraising, the Event Fundraising Intern supports the Foundation’s Events and Community Engagement team in the planning and delivery of fundraising initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience through active involvement in event coordination, volunteer engagement, communications, and day-to-day event operations, while building practical skills in fundraising and event management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the team with the coordination and delivery of events by assisting with logistics, setup, and on-site execution
  • Assist with preparing event materials, including attendee lists, communications, signage, run-of-show documents, and supply coordination
  • Help maintain and organize event, sponsor, and volunteer information to support tracking and reporting
  • Assist with event readiness by preparing materials, presentations, coordinating supplies, and supporting pre-event logistics
  • Provide on-site support during events, including registration, guest experience, and general event flow
  • Assist with volunteer coordination by supporting scheduling, communications, and basic inquiries
  • Assist the team with additional tasks and projects as needed to support successful event delivery and fundraising initiatives

OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED

  • Due to the nature of event activity, occasional evening or weekend will be required

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Diploma/degree in event management, public relations, communications or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete routine administrative tasks independently
  • Professional demeanor with staff, volunteers, and members of the public
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard work week of 37.5 hours, but occasional evenings or weekends will be required
  • This role is required to work on-site between Health Sciences North and Sudbury Outpatient Centre.
