Education and Training:
- Graduate from a recognized Medical Secretary diploma program or related program
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate required
Experience:
- Minimum of six (6) months recent relevant experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
- Demonstrated ability to type 50 w.p.m.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Terminology
- Ability to draft correspondence, take minutes and proof-read for accuracy
- Proficiency in data entry and working knowledge of computerized patient information systems
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multi-faceted team environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and diversified workload
- Proven ability to collaborate with others
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in disseminating sensitive information.
- Discretion and maturity in handling confidential matters is essential
Personal Suitability:
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated positive work and good attendance record with a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Criminal record check satisfactory to the hospital is required.
French Language Service (FLS) Designation:
Bilingualism requirements will be posted in accordance with the FLS Designation Plan. If a position is designated bilingual and no bilingual candidates (both internal and external) meet the qualifications, unilingual candidates may be considered.
