The Windsor Regional Cancer Program (WRCP) at Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) is seeking applications for a permanent full time Medical Physicist. The Windsor Regional Cancer Program (WRCP) serves the people within the Ontario Health West Region. Current clinical resources in the Radiation Oncology Program include three Varian iX linear accelerators with a fourth linear accelerator (Varian TrueBeam) to be installed shortly, an Xstrahl Orthovoltage unit, a GE Discovery RT CT-Sim. Our brachytherapy program utilizes a Varian GammaMed Plus iX HDR remoter afterloader for gynecological and prostate treatments. Permanent I-125 seed implantation is also part of our clinical brachytherapy service. Advanced treatment planning systems in clinical  use including Eclipse, Brachyvision and Variseed. A 3.0T Siemens MRI has been installed within the Department of Radiation Oncology with slots dedicated specifically for oncology patients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supply scientific expertise to the Cancer Centre through the application of physics in medicine.
  • Engage in clinical services, education, and research and development.
  • Responsible for participation in departmental, hospital and educational activities, which are supportive of professional and corporate objectives.
  • Clinical consultations with radiation oncologist and treatment planners in the care of patients.
  • Participate, develop, and administer quality assurance program of various equipment within radiation oncology.
  • Acceptance and commissioning of new equipment and upgrading existing systems.
  • Development and implementation of new clinical techniques and advancement of technologies within the radiation program.
  • Participation in clinical trials within Radiation Oncology.
  • Participate in the training and teaching of Medical Physics residents.
  • Conduct and supervise research and development projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external interdisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Responsible for delivery of service consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Medical Physics or related field
  • Highly qualified candidates with a M.Sc. degree will be considered.
  • Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency program in medical physics
  • Board certified by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or equivalent credential (DABR, DABMP, etc.)  Eligible candidates will be considered
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team;
  • Commitment to standards of excellence and the concept of accountability;
  • Commitment to and participation in Quality Enhancement activities;
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and initiative;

 

The successful candidate will join an energetic, progressive and clinically focused Medical Physics team consisting of a five physicists, a physics assistant,  an accelerator technologist,  and five treatment planners.
