Purpose:
Provide best practice assessment, treatment, navigation and support to individuals and families with mental health, substance use and/or concurrent disorders across the spectrum (e.g. inpatient, community). Work collaboratively with inpatient medical and psychiatric units, outpatient departments, and the emergency department to arrange admission, assessment and provide treatment to individuals with a mental health and/or addictions disorders.
Standard Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN) from an accredited university or equivalent.
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.
- Current certification in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is required.
- Current certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention is required.
- Certification in the use of a Venous Access Device (VAD) is required.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ full-time equivalent experience within the last five (5) years’ working in an acute medical setting.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ full-time equivalent experience working in a mental health or addictions setting, within the last five (5) years’.
- Experience in program development and providing education is preferred.
- Experience with Suboxone induction is required.
- Experience and training specific to trauma informed care is required.
- Training or experience in culturally safe care provision.
- Knowledge of social determinants of health and how these can impact priority populations.
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Preference Given to:
- Current certification in Suboxone treatment is preferred.
- Experience in program development and providing education is preferred.
