Registered Nurse x4

Purpose: The Registered Nurse will provide, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, cardiac invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Standard Qualifications:

• A graduate from an approved School of Nursing (university or community college) with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Required Qualifications:

• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support BCLS.

• Current certification in ECG Level I and II.
• Current certification in Peripheral Intravenous Initiation and Maintenance.

• Current certification in Life Saving Drugs.
• Physically able to work while wearing a 3-9 kg (7-20 lbs) protective gown for up to 75% of the shift tour.
• Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent experience (within the last 5 years) in a cardiology related area.

General Skills:

• Patient teaching skills specific to cardiology patients.

• Ability to work in a high-paced team environment.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office software, Meditech Client Service OE, and GRASP software.

Preference Given to:

• Candidates who have experience in the cardiac catheterization lab within the last year.
• Demonstrated current experience in circulating and scrubbing in a sterile field.

• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Lfe Support ACLS.

• Current certification in Electrical Defibrillation.
• Current certification in Intra-aortic Balloon Pump IABP.
• Current certification in hemodynamic monitoring.

French Language Service (FLS) Designation:

Bilingualism requirements will be posted in accordance with the FLS Designation Plan.  If a position is designated bilingual and no bilingual candidates (both internal and external) meet the qualifications, unilingual candidates may be considered.
