KEY FUNCTION:
Provide efficient clerical support to the department while supporting departmental activities.

 

REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Registration and Telemedicine.

 

DUTIES:
1. Compile program statistics and type correspondence, reports, and letters.
2. Maintain filing systems and order office supplies.
3. Type a variety of correspondence including statistics, client information, and letters.
4. Answer telephone calls, respond to general inquiries, and refer calls to appropriate resources as required.
5. Receive, open, and distribute departmental mail.
6. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
7. Contribute to learner development by providing academic support, mentorship, preceptorship and supervision as required.
8. Participate in hospital training as required.
9. Assist with improvement initiatives as required.
10. Perform other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
1. Minimum of a one (1) year Post-Secondary Certificate or Diploma in office or business administration from an accredited community college.
2. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

 

EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year recent relevant experience is preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
1. Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
2. Proficiency in data entry.
3. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and customer service skills.
4. Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
5. Demonstrated computer skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word and Outlook) and applicable patient information systems (e.g. MOSAIQ and Meditech Expanse).
6. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare workers.
7. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks.
9. Demonstrated compliance with HSN’s privacy policy.
10. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
