KEY FUNCTION

To support operational practices in the Cardiac Cath Lab.

 

REPORTING

Under the general direction of the Clinical Manager, Cardiodiagnostics and Perfusion.

 

DUTIES:

  1. Assist with patient flow through the department (i.e. transporting patients to/from recovery area and to/from inpatient units).
  2. Clean between cases including wipe down high touch areas, procedure equipment, mop floors, remove garbage and recycling.
  3. Responsible for inventory management (i.e. enter daily orders through Meditech, put supplies away, check for expiry dates, and update daily ordering worksheets).
  4. Manage specialty supplies, including the Anesthetic gas machine and Anesthetic supply cart.
  5. Maintain a safe and operational workplace; replace stock items, clean spills and submit requisitions for Building Services or Biomed.
  6. Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
  7. Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
  8. Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
  9. Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required. 
  10. Perform other duties as required. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: 

  1. Minimum or a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and Career Entrance (ACE)).
  2. Current Basic Cardiac Life and Support BCLS.
  3. Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Current experience in a diagnostic area is preferred.
  2. Inventory control and purchasing experience is preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  1. Demonstrated ability to work with data bases.
  2. Demostrated ability to safely handle lifting 30 kilograms, pushing and pulling carts.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Cath Lab supplies is preferred.
  4. Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
  5. Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  6. Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
  7. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  8. Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritize as required
  9. Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
